Joshua 5 - God doesn't like shoes or foreskins

Synopsis:

The Amorites and the Canaanites hear about the parting of the Jordan and their hearts melt. God then tells Joshua to sharpen some knives to circumcise all the men, because none of them that had been born in the desert were circumcised and all the guys who had left Egypt and had been had died in the battles, so, long story short, there was a mass circumcision. Once everyone recovered, they started eating the corn of Canaan and they had no more manna anymore. Joshua gets visited by a Captain of God’s army and he has to take his shoes off.

Or to put it another way:

They sharpen knives and cut the foreskin off every single man and call the place foreskin hill. They finally get to eat something other than manna.

Favorite bit:

God apparently doesn’t like shoes (Joshua 5:15)

Interesting bit:

It’s Passover time (Joshua 6:10)

Moral Lesson Learned:

If you are going to circumcise someone, make sure the knife is sharp (Joshua 5:2)
